Adding tenability to the emerging cryptocurrency, the largest darknet market in operation, Dream, has started accepting payment with monero.
According to a thread on Reddit, the Dream darknet market enables an option for sellers to accept the payment in privacy coin monero. It is an additional payment method next to bitcoin and bitcoin cash.
Untraceable cryptocoin, Monero (XMR) is 13th largest cryptocurrency, with a $4.9 billion market capitalization; the altcoin’s price was $317.65 per unit at the time of writing.
Celebration time for Dream market
It seems like the Darknet marketplaces are noticing the standards missing in bitcoin and started appending alternatives. The dark web’s formerly most popular black market, Alphabay, integrated monero support in their payment option before being shut down in July 2017.
Darknet users are welcoming this move, as it will add more anonymity to the marketplace. In the past, many users have requested the Dream marketplace team to accept the monero as a payment option.
However, it is not rolled out over all products. Buyers will see an option for monero, only if the seller enabled to accept the payment using the altcoin. It will take time to update for all products as a third option for payment.

Monero: Not Just a Coin for Criminals
A private digital currency, monero can be defined as a secure, private, and untraceable cryptocurrency. It is open-source and accessible to all. With Monero, you are your own bank. Only you control and are responsible for your funds. Your accounts and transactions are kept private from prying eyes.
Due to its anonymous nature, the coin is a lucrative target for hackers. Unlike the other cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, monero does not publicly track the transactions. The features make it more favorable for cyber pirates, with adoption coming as a result of the altcoin’s fungibility.
One should not forget that the privacy coin monero is being widely used in Darknet markets now, it does not mean the coin is designed for criminals ONLY. The technology has no prejudice in the direction of its usage, either illicit or legit. However, This is a valid trait, but it is a very small point as compared to its other attributes.
In fact, adding monero to the Dream marketplace is an interesting decision. Other Darknet markets are also likely to add support for the privacy coin in coming times; that much seems inevitable now.
If the update kicks off all over the store, could monero reach for the ‘Moon?’
