Wesley Snipes, the Hollywood actor who starred in several blockbuster action movies has now joined the crypto bandwagon. The highly reputable actor who rose to fame in the 1990s with films like New Jack City, White Men Can’t Jump, Blade and others is now looking to revolutionize the social messaging ecosystem with the NYNJA ICO project.

Another Celebrity Endorsement

At a time when the U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory watchdogs are seriously clamping down on initial coin offerings (ICOs), Snipes is determined to succeed where some other celebs have failed in the past.

The ‘vampire slayer’ has linked his name and fame built over the years to a new blockchain and crypto powered project called NYNJA. The project proffers an advanced global communicator platform with an in-built marketplace and a cryptocurrency ecosystem.

According to the project team, the NYNJA messaging app supports voice, text and visual messaging with cutting-edge business management and e-commerce features.

Another Scam?

Snipe’s NYNJA project is not the first messaging app claiming to disrupt existing systems as there have been quite a handful of celebrity-backed projects that crashed in the middle of nowhere.

In 2017, celebrity-promoted Centra ICO was sued by participants for not fulfilling its ‘too good to be true promises.’

There’s also the Stephen Seagal-backed Bitcoiin2Gen ICO that was honorably abandoned after the project generated huge amounts of funds from participants. In its exit statement issued on March 26, 2018, the Bitcoiin2Gen project team already issued with cease-and-desist orders said that:

“As Bitcoiin goes through the conversion phase from token to mineable coin we wish to advise that Bitcoiin will join the likes of the original Bitcoin and become a truly open source. Therefore a big thank you to the founders and to our Brand Ambassador whom we wish all the best in their future endeavors.”

The SEC has shown time without number that even celebrities are not above the law and has warned that stars could face prosecution for endorsing ICO projects if they don’t follow the SEC guidelines to the letter.

Wesley Snipes has a massive task on his hands to ensure the NYNJA project stands the test of time as the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem has had a lot of failed projects in recent times. Therefore what it needs right now are projects that are real and ready to rule the world.

It remains to be seen whether the NYNJA messaging app will hold its own in an ecosystem where the biggest ICO in history, Telegram Open Network (TON) is roaring to rule with its over $1.7 project.
