How can I possibly know my ledger Nano S doesn't have a backdoor and the devs can't just decide to take my Bitcoin away one day?

I'm saying this because ledger is not transparent with their software and the thoughts of them storing my seed phrase somehow keeps me up at night.

Am I overreacting?

Is Ledger trustworthy?

And even if they are, doesn't this go against Bitcoin's trustless principles?
