As far as I know there is no downside to using SegWit, only upside in effectively reduced tx size and some malleability fixes (sounds like a good thing to me…) Adoption isn't even 50% yet after way too long, and I'm hearing explanations stating that it's 2 actors, likely avoiding adoption maliciously. Most BTC OGs and devs I've heard in interviews seem to take pride that nearly all changes to BTC are opt in and backwards compatible, in this case it means you don't "have" to run SegWit. That's great. But in this specific instance, if there is no downside can we just mandate it and let them screw off? Are there ramifications to doing so?
