Its 2017 and Bitcoin hit $1000, saw a post about it in one of my daily tech news sites.

The decision happened withing a few days, found the local OTC website,made sure its legit and “click” my first bitcoin is on my bitkey wallet (2 usb sticks).

Exicted with my new monetary discovery it was very easy for me to get my “geekier” friends interested, due to the fact that im somewhat a “authority” when it comes to technology. That did not work out with my “non geeky” friends, they saw it as a risky and too complicated. Two “non geeky” friends did comeback after bitcoin hit $2500-3000, they needed time to do their own research I guess, I respect that.

“Buy 2 thumbdrives and come over” – one by one I setup their offilne cold wallets, pointed them at the OTC website and off they went (security brief was in order).

Its easier to get people going when a whole bitcoin is $1000 and with a aanotop video or two, they all got their questions answered.

Its important to push people in the right direction but let them come back to you when they make up their mind. I never pushed.

“if your not willing to forget about it for 10 years then never mind“ I was very strict in my minimum expectation requirements, I think that its important to be realistic when explaining bitcoin to people. When the price fluctuated, “it a 10 year thing remember, talk to me then”.

When the 2017 bullrun hit everyone was excited! I was soo afraid that everything would come down crashing and with that my reputation.

It did, But my reputation stayed in tact due to the fact that all the way up I was pessimistic saying that its not reasonable and that if it goes back to $2000 we are all still up and ill be very happy.

Today I hear about it from them every once in a while, mostly share news, some got into reddit, and “bitcoin twitter”, its fun to see them “grow up” lol
